Netflix coming to the UK and Ireland in 2012...uhmm, let's see how that goes!
Well, this has been rolling on several blogs and sites in the past days - Netflix is finally expanding to Europe.
However, the question is: are they going to be able to compete with local players? I don't think so.
I do believe in the business model used by Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and others, I really feel it is a money-making idea.
However, licensing plays a big part on the success (or not) of these companies.
We all know the amount of TV series, movies and other, but only some of them actually have the fan base that allows it to be profitable.
Most of these are in a handful of companies that, especially in Europe, already have licensing agreements with national TV stations (especially cable TV).
I understand that they might come with some deals, but given the recent evolution of Netflix in terms of sales and marketing strategy, as well as losing some important deals in the US, I'm really not that sure that they will have a good run in Europe.
Nevertheless, it is a business in its early stages in Europe and everyone is "hungry" for this kind of products.
A good example of this is Sky Go, that reached 1.6 million users in the first three months.
You can see a bit more on how things at Netflix aren't going that well in this Mashable article:

Steve Jobs - A man with a purpose
Well, we all know that today's topic is Steve Jobs.
A great man with a great sense of what he was here (meaning, alive) for.
Many called him crazy, lunatic and arrogant.
At the end of the day, he was just another man wanting to leave his mark in the world... and he most certainly did.
As I usually say, everyone could have done Apple, Google, Microsoft or other known brand/product, the difference is that men like Steve Jobs had the balls to pull it off.
This teach us one simple thing: if you really want something...go for it, no matter what other people say - luck favours the bold.
